La cultura protagonizó un almuerzo de trabajo de la Junta Directiva de la Orden en Lanzarote con los Cachorros de Honor de la isla, que tuvo lugar el pasado 4 de diciembre en el Hotel Lancelot de Arrecife.
Presidió la reunión Fernando Petit, presidente de la demarcación de Lanzarote, estando presentes, además de los directivos, Antonio Hernández (Restaurante La Era), José Ferrer y Remedios Quintana (Museo Etnográfico Tanit), Juan Carlos Alonso y Juan Jesús Hernández (Parranda Marinera Los Buches), Germán Barreto (Museo Agrícola El Patio), Miguel Ángel Corujo (Los Campesinos), el pintor Santiago Alemán y Edmundo de la Hoz (Sociedad Cultural, Recreativa y Deportiva Torrelavega), todos ellos Cachorros de Honor.
Santiago Alemán informó que está preparando un libro sobre la arquitectura tradicional de Canarias, mientras que las restantes intervenciones se centraron en el rescate del patrimonio cultural tangible e intangible, así como tratar de sacar adelante el Museo del Mar y la Pesca y potenciar la oferta museística insular, pública y privada, entre otros asuntos. Asimismo se trató el cincuentenario de la creación de los Centros de Arte, Cultura y Turismo, planteándose la conveniencia de que el Cabildo ponga un mayor acento en la vertiente cultural de los mismos.
