El pasado sábado, día 12 de marzo, bastantes compañeros/as de la Orden del Cachorro Canario visitaron el Yacimiento Arqueológico, declarado Bien de Interés Cultural desde el año 1.993, “La Cañada de los Gatos”, en el Puerto de Mogán.
Se trata de un asentamiento aborigen costero y un gran conjunto arqueológico compuesto por los restos de lo que antaño fue un gran poblado habitado por los antiguos canarios desde hace más de 1.600 años, en el se destaca una decena de casas aborígenes de forma circular con muros de piedra semiexcavadas en la ladera.
Junto a estas construcciones se encuentran otras, también de forma circular, construidas después de la conquista de la isla a finales del siglo XV y otras más que proceden de finales del siglo XIX, relacionadas con la explotación agropecuaria de la zona.
A través de un camino que discurre junto a una serie de cuevas funerarias, se llega al cementerio de Las Crucecitas en el que destacan los depósitos funerarios de piedra y otros excavados en la tierra.
El recorrido se hace por senderos que comunican las diferentes áreas del poblado que muestran perfectamente al visitante el modo de vida de los antiguos canarios.
Esta visita se hizo bajo la dirección personal del arqueólogo Don Abel Galindo, que intervino personalmente en el descubrimiento del yacimiento, el cual pormenorizó, con una amabilidad exquisita, todos los detalles de cada una de las viviendas. Explicó de forma muy entretenida y amena la distribución interior, los materiales con que fueron construidas, el porqué de cada una de las estancias, su orientación y su funcionamiento y, desde un hermoso mirador que hay en lo alto, nos enseñó la perspectiva general del conjunto, de manera que los “cachorrúos/as” pudieron comprobar todo el asentamiento y así entender “in situ” esa forma de vivir.
Con posterioridad a esta visita, el grupo de desplazó hasta el restaurante “Apolo”, situado en la Avenida Marítimas del barrio moganero de Arguineguín, donde se pudo degustar un magnífico caldo de pescado de sama roquera con papas del país, acompañado de un vino joven de la zona de Bandama, que hizo las delicias de todos/as.
No nos queda nada más que felicitar a la Junta Directiva por organizar estos encuentros donde siempre predomina la armonía y la diversión, que hacen sin duda de ninguna clase, que el grupo fortalezca su unión y camaradería, que tanto beneficia a la Orden del Cachorro Canario, y que nos anime a todos a seguir trabajando para que su hermosa y necesaria filosofía estatutaria se transmita a la sociedad canaria en general, como establecen sus objetivos.
